Seven case studies in different African countries were identified as representative of the Slow Food approach, and they have been twinned with the partner cities.
On May 25, the city of Turin will host the second workshop planned by 4Cities4Dev. The title of the workshop is "decentralized cooperation and food security: possible scenarios" and will be held from 9 AM to 6 PM at Teatro Vittoria (via Gramsci 4, Turin).
Starting from the work done in the month of November 2011, during which we analyzed the topic of food through urban policies, we now want to address the link between food and actions of decentralized cooperation. This further public moment will involve cities, local authorities, civil society with the desire to understand how and if it is possible to combine food sovereignty and security.
The three thematic sessions, organized as round tables, will focus on: - Decentralized cooperation promoted by the Cities; - Food security and food sovereignty: concepts or reality?; - Food, cooperation, community and territory: perspectives and scenarios.
The research community, nonprofits, NGOs, foundations, regional networks and thematic networks will enrich the analysis, bringing their own perspective: all with the aim of keeping attention alive on these issues and thus contribute to the debate fostered by the European Union and by the campaign to achieve the Millennium Development Goals, endorsed by 4Cities4Dev (1st goal, “eradicating hunger and extreme poverty” and 7th goal, “ensuring environmental sustainability”).
